Reuse a Holafly eSIM: New Trips, Same Profile

Reuse a Holafly eSIM: New Trips, Same Profile

Travellers who want to reuse a Holafly eSIM may not need a fresh profile for an eligible later purchase. Holafly says the new trip can land on the profile already installed on the phone. The company published its announcement on September 25, 2026, then modified it on September 30, 2026. It wasn't an October launch.

Quick answer: The installed eSIM profile is reusable, but a paid data package isn't. You still buy the next trip and use the same email for your Holafly account. After the trip, leave the profile on your phone and switch off the line.

1

What Holafly's reusable eSIM changes

Another journey used to mean another profile. For qualifying new purchases, Holafly says that profile swap can go away. According to its German reusable eSIM FAQ, another day package, destination, or monthly plan can use the existing profile when you keep the same account email.

Day packages and monthly plans don't start the same way. Holafly says an added day package may wait until the active package expires or runs out. A monthly plan's billing period begins immediately when you buy it, according to the same provider FAQ.

The profile and plan are different things. Our beginner's guide to using an eSIM abroad explains that split. A new trip uses the profile on your phone. An eSIM top-up during a current trip extends the active package instead. Reinstallation restores a deleted profile. A trip transfer sends an unused package to another Holafly account.

2

Reuse and trip transfers have different eligibility dates

Holafly's German FAQ says reusable-profile eligibility starts with qualifying purchases made on or after September 30, 2026. Purchases before that date aren't included. The FAQ also lists the Maldives, Monaco, Yemen, Guinea, and Saint Pierre and Miquelon as single-use exceptions. Those are Holafly's terms, not an industry-wide eSIM rule.

For transfers, Holafly instead names September 28, 2026 for qualifying Ready-to-Use trips. The provider says an unused trip can move to another account once, and the recipient has 24 hours to accept it. Monthly plans and subscriptions are excluded.

Only the trip changes accounts. The installed profile doesn't move to another phone or another person.

3

Switch the profile off, don't rush to delete it

Holafly recommends switching the line off after the trip and leaving the profile installed. Apple also advises against deleting an eSIM merely as a troubleshooting step unless the carrier tells you to do so.

Already deleted the profile? Holafly's FAQ says the same profile can be installed through the app up to three times in total. Once that provider limit is reached, the app should show an option to request a replacement profile. Our guide to deleting and reinstalling an eSIM covers the general risks; if the activation details are missing, see what to do with a lost eSIM QR code.

For the next purchase, use the same account and leave the profile alone. Less QR-code housekeeping is welcome. It doesn't make future data free.

Editorial status: Holafly published the announcement on September 25, 2026 and modified it on September 30, 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I reuse a Holafly eSIM for multiple trips?

Holafly says you can when the purchase and destination qualify. The existing profile stays installed, while each later trip still has to be bought separately.

Does reuse apply to older Holafly purchases?

Not across the board. Holafly names qualifying purchases made on or after September 30, 2026. Earlier purchases and certain destinations remain excluded.

What happens if I delete the Holafly profile?

Holafly says the same profile can be installed through its app up to three times in total. After that provider limit, an option to request a replacement profile should appear.

Can I transfer a Holafly trip to someone else?

Holafly says a qualifying, unused day-based trip can be transferred once. The recipient has 24 hours to accept it. Monthly plans and subscriptions are excluded.

Is a trip transfer the same as moving an eSIM profile to a new phone?

No. A trip transfer moves a booked package between Holafly accounts. Moving to another phone concerns the installed eSIM profile and follows separate rules.
